Svoj prepoznatljiv izgled, s mo\u0107nim kamenim zidovima, bastionima i kulama, Kastel je dobio u osmanskom periodu, posebno za vladavine Ferhad-pa\u0161e Sokolovi\u0107a, a kasnije je dogra\u0111ivan i u 18. vijeku. \r\n\r\nNekada sna\u017eno vojno upori\u0161te koje je \u010duvalo dolinu Vrbasa, danas je tvr\u0111ava mirna oaza usred gradske vreve: unutar zidina nalaze se ljetna pozornica, galerija, dje\u010dje igrali\u0161te i restoran s pogledom na rijeku. Ljeti Kastel o\u017eivi uz brojne koncerte i festivale poput Demofesta i Freshwavea.
