Nastao je u osmanskom periodu, kada je bilo potrebno organizovati i utvrditi prostor zbog velikih promjena u regionu krajem 17. i po\u010detkom 18. vijeka. Sagra\u0111en je na desnoj obali Trebi\u0161njice, iznad dubokog rije\u010dnog vira poznatog kao Ban-vir. Razvoj utvr\u0111enog jezgra posebno se vezuje za Osman-pa\u0161u i porodicu Resulbegovi\u0107.
