According to the beliefs of his followers, Mithras gives people courage, protects the righteous, and promises thrones to emperors. The cult was strictly reserved for men, and followers passed through seven levels of initiation. <br><br>The central ritual of Mithraism was the tauroctony \u2013 the sacrifice of a bull \u2013 which, according to belief, brought cosmic renewal and salvation. This very act is depicted on the relief in Jajce, making it a rare and precious witness to this mysterious faith in Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div Ovaj jedinstveni lokalitet, uklesan u prirodnu stijenu, svjedo\u010di o prisustvu kulta nepobjedivog boga sunca \u2013 Mitre, perzijskog bo\u017eanstva koje su rimski vojnici i slu\u017ebenici obo\u017eavali \u0161irom Carstva. Mitra je bio za\u0161titnik ugovora, hrabrosti i savezni\u0161tva, a vjerovalo se da carevima donosi prijestolja, a vojnicima pobjede. Prona\u0111en 1931. godine, hram je ostao izuzetno dobro o\u010duvan, \u010duvaju\u0107i tajne religije koja je nekada bila glavni konkurent ranom kr\u0161\u0107anstvu.\r\n\r\nCentralno mjesto u hramu zauzima dramati\u010dan reljef na kojem je Mitra, odjeven u tradicionalnu perzijsku no\u0161nju s lepr\u0161avim ogrta\u010dem, prikazan u trenutku \u017ertvovanja bika. Uz njega su simboli\u010dne figure psa, zmije i \u0161korpiona, dok tri \u017ertvenika ispred reljefa pri\u010daju pri\u010du o tada\u0161njoj dru\u0161tvenoj strukturi. Zanimljivo je da su \u017ertvenici bili podijeljeni prema slojevima stanovni\u0161tva, a najmanji, namijenjen siroma\u0161nima, ostaje jedini o\u0161te\u0107eni dio ovog svetili\u0161ta.
