Basic information

Trebinje is a tourist gem that breathes the scent of the sea and medicinal herbs. The city is dominated by the Old Town (Kastel) with its narrow streets and ramparts, while the center is graced by the famous century-old plane trees, the symbol of the city promenade. Above the city rises Herzegovinian Gračanica, the eternal home of poet Jovan Dučić, offering the finest view of the bridges and vineyards. Trebinje is home to Tvrdoš Monastery, renowned for its centuries-old winemaking tradition, and the Perović (Arslanagić) Bridge, a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture. With over 260 sunny days a year, the city is an ideal base for exploring the Adriatic coast and Herzegovinian mountains. The gastronomic offer — from cheese in a bladder to the indigenous wine varieties Žilavka and Blatina — combined with the slower, Mediterranean rhythm of life, makes Trebinje a destination visitors always return to.
