Spomenik Revoluciji (Kozara)
Description
The Kozara Revolution Monument, set on the Mrakovica peak within Kozara National Park, is one of the most significant memorial complexes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It honours the people of Kozara and the fighters who died in the Second World War, above all during the 1942 Kozara Offensive, when many civilians perished within the German encirclement and tens of thousands were sent to concentration camps.
The monumental sculpture, 34 metres tall, is the work of the renowned sculptor Dušan Džamonja and was unveiled in 1972. It is composed of twenty vertical segments: the recessed parts in shadow symbolise death, while the lit ones, clad in stainless steel, represent victory and life. Beside it stand a memorial wall with the 9,921 names of fallen partisans and a museum. Today the complex unites a powerful message of remembrance with the peace of Kozara's mountain nature.

The approach and central plateaus are linked by a stairway through the forest of Kozara National Park, creating a unique blend of nature and remembrance.
