River Neretva

60.8 km to the city center

Description

The Neretva is a river that won't let you just look at it—it pulls you in. From the canyon near Konjic, where rafters glide through emerald-green waters, to the Jablaničko Lake, where mountains mirror each other in the dam's stillness, to Mostar, where the Old Bridge has stood over it for centuries—each stretch of the Neretva offers a different experience. Along the river lie some of the most beautiful cities in BiH: Konjic with its UNESCO-listed woodcarving, Jablanica with the legend of the Battle on the Neretva, Mostar, which speaks for itself, Počitelj carved into the rock above the shore, and Čapljina at the entrance to a fertile valley. The Neretva is not just a route—it's the reason you always return to Herzegovina.

It springs in the mountainous regions of high Herzegovina, beneath Mount Jabuke and the Gredelj saddle, on the border between the Zelengora and Lebršnik mountains—deep within the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at an elevation of about 1,227 meters above sea level.
