St. Anthony's Church
Description
On a gentle rise above the Neum Bay, overlooking the blue sea and fragrant Mediterranean vegetation, stands St. Anthony of Padua Church - one of the most important spiritual places in Neum. Built in the second half of the 20th century, this church exudes a simple yet harmonious architecture that blends naturally into its surroundings. Its white stone facade and tall bell tower, visible from almost every part of the town, create a recognizable symbol of peace and quiet.
The church is not only a place of prayer, but also a place of gathering and community, open to both locals and the many visitors who come to Neum during the summer. A special atmosphere comes on June 13, when the feast of St. Anthony is celebrated with a solemn Mass and procession, bringing the faithful together in shared celebration.
Thanks to its location, this place also offers one of the most beautiful views of the Neum coastline. At sunset, when the sky and sea merge into a single image, the church courtyard becomes the perfect place to rest, enjoy the silence, and take in the beauty of the Herzegovinian coast.
