The museum and its departments
The Museum of Herzegovina is not one building — it is a network of locations scattered across Mostar, each preserving a different layer of history. The Džemal Bijedić Memorial House preserves traces of the Yugoslav prime minister who came from Mostar. The Svetozar Ćorović Memorial House also contains the Šantić Memorial Room, dedicated to one of the greatest lyrical voices of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Old Bridge department in Tara Tower tells the story of the bridge reconstruction from 1999 to 2004, while the Archaeology Department with the stećci lapidarium takes visitors back to pre-Christian and medieval Mostar. All of this is brought together by the MuM Interpretation Center with ethnological exhibits that help visitors connect the complex history of Herzegovina into one picture.
