Klekovača

11.6 km to the city center

Description

Klekovača is one of the most beautiful mountains in Bosanska Krajina, located between Drvar and Bosanski Petrovac. Its northern part belongs to the municipality of Drinić, while the southern slopes belong to Drvar.

The mountain got its name from the medicinal evergreen plant from the pine family called KLEK, which grows on its peaks, and its highest peak, Velika Klekovača, reaches 1,962 meters above sea level. Another notable peak is Mala Klekovača, suitable for hiking ascents and nature exploration.

Klekovača is covered with dense coniferous and beech forests and is distinguished by exceptional biodiversity. A large number of plant species grow in this area, including the rare edelweiss, while nearby lies Lom Primeval Forest, one of the few preserved primeval forests in Europe, known for trees several centuries old.

Thanks to its untouched nature, rich flora, and impressive mountain landscapes, Klekovača is an ideal destination for hikers, explorers, and all lovers of the wilderness.
