Jezero Smoluća
Description
Lake Smoluća, hidden in a natural setting just 6–7 kilometers from Lukavac, represents yet another fascinating example of nature reclaiming a former open-cast coal mine. Formed more than three decades ago, this lake with its distinctive figure-of-eight shape spans approximately 5 hectares. Its depth varies from shallow areas all the way to 14 meters, creating an ideal habitat for a rich variety of plant and animal life. The exceptionally clean and clear water, inhabited by crayfish, snails, mussels, and tortoises, is the best testament to the ecological preservation of this site.
Surrounded by dense vegetation, Lake Smoluća provides a feeling of complete isolation and peace, even though it is only a few kilometers from the nearest settlements. In the immediate vicinity of the main lake there are also several smaller lakes that serve as nurseries for carp and grass carp fry, making this an important center for maintaining the fish stock of the entire area. Whether you are a lover of unspoiled nature or are looking for a quiet place to escape the urban hustle, Smoluća offers an authentic "wilderness" experience within easy reach.
