Banja Mlječanica
Description
Banja Mlječanica is situated in a natural setting on the northwestern slopes of Kozara Mountain near Kozarska Dubica and represents one of the most highly regarded spa and health resort destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The healing properties of the mineral springs in this area have been known since ancient times, and the first written record was left by the Austrian balneologist E. Ludwig as far back as 1888.
The Mlječanica sulphide mineral water belongs to the magnesium-calcium-sodium-sulphide-sulphate waters, with a temperature below 15°C and a stable neutral pH value — ideal for the treatment of rheumatic, neurological, orthopaedic, and gynaecological conditions, as well as the prevention of osteoporosis. The spa began operating in 1987, and the complex includes an inpatient ward with 105 beds, a bungalow settlement with 15 bungalows and 45 beds, a restaurant, and supporting facilities. Nearby are Moštanica Monastery and the Donja Gradina Memorial Area.
