Region description

West Herzegovina Canton includes the towns of Široki Brijeg and Ljubuški, as well as the municipalities of Grude and Posušje. This canton is the economic leader of the region, but also a tourist oasis thanks to natural phenomena such as the Kravica and Koćuša waterfalls on the Trebižat River. Known for its "red soil" ideal for viticulture, the canton preserves tradition through numerous cellars producing top-quality wines (žilavka and blatina). Its cultural heritage ranges from the ancient Roman Villa in Mogorjelo to the Humac Museum, the oldest museum in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its proximity to the Adriatic coast and Mount Čvrsnica gives it a specific climate, making it ideal for lovers of outdoor activities, religious tourism, and excellent local gastronomy, especially prosciutto and cheese in a sack.
