Posušje
Basic Information
Located on a plateau at an average altitude of 600 meters, Posušje is a place where the scent of the sea from the south meets the crisp mountain air from the north. Its name, derived from the word "drought," bears witness to the centuries-long struggle of people with the Herzegovinian karst, from which a town of remarkable vitality has grown.
Today, Posušje is a modern center that jealously preserves its treasures. From the mysterious stećci necropolises at the Barišića and Bešlića sites, through the Tribistovo reservoir lake, all the way to the beautiful "Topala" Golf Course – one of the few in the region – this town offers something for the discerning traveler. A special jewel of the municipality is Blidinje Nature Park, part of which lies within its territory, offering a refuge in untouched nature. Posušje is also a town of festivals, top-quality lamb, and Herzegovinian fritters, where hospitality is measured not by words, but by a rich table and a sincere smile.
