Dabarska Cave

Underground Natural Monument

6.5 km to the city center

Description

Dabarska Cave is one of the most important natural phenomena in the area around Sanski Most, located in the village of Donji Dabar, on the road to Ključ. This speleological complex, together with the source of the Dabar River, forms a unique natural whole protected as a natural monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In front of the cave, the Dabar River emerges from the karst and flows for only a few kilometers, and it is especially interesting that its water is completely drinkable. The cave entrance itself is about 20 meters high and leaves a strong impression on visitors, while the interior hides a mysterious underground world that is still insufficiently explored.

The cave is also known for its biological value – rare and sensitive species have been found in its underground waters and spaces, including the olm, bat, and cave crayfish, which speaks to an exceptionally clean and preserved ecosystem.

A visit to Dabarska Cave gives the feeling of entering another world, but it requires caution, as this is a naturally demanding and partially unexplored area. It is ideal for lovers of nature, speleology, and adventure, but only with responsible and safe movement.
