Jezero Bistarac
Description
Bistarac Lake, located just two kilometers from Lukavac along the old road to Tuzla, is considered one of the brightest tourist gems of the Tuzla Canton. What sets Bistarac apart from other lakes is its rare natural self-purifying quality, which ensures exceptionally clean water, ideal for swimming, water sports, and excellent fishing. Because of its slightly higher altitude, visitors are always greeted by a refreshing breeze here, which, together with the many sunny hours, makes the water and air temperature perfect for a summer holiday.
For anglers, Bistarac is a true little paradise. The lake is regularly stocked, and its depths hide trophy specimens of carp, catfish, grass carp, and pike-perch, while trout has adapted surprisingly well to the specific conditions of this water. Thanks to its well-kept shores and rich fish stock, sport fishing competitions are held here throughout the year, attracting competitors and nature lovers from all over the country. Whether you are looking for a peaceful oasis for a family weekend or an active sporting experience, Bistarac offers an authentic blend of natural purity and hospitality.
Several lakes in one complex
Bistarac Lake is not just one lake — it is a series of smaller reservoirs surrounded by forests that together form the Ontario complex. Natural water purification without chemical additives makes this one of the few bathing lakes in the region where the water is untreated.
This is also supported by the diverse fish stock that has successfully adapted here — from trout, which has found ideal conditions in Bistarac, to silver carp and zander, which attract sport anglers from across Tuzla Canton. The light breeze coming from an altitude of 250 m is especially welcome on summer days when hundreds of swimmers visit the lake.
