Ozren Monastery

Nestled in untouched nature, 7 kilometers from Petrovo, stands Ozren Monastery, a spiritual center dedicated to Saint Nicholas. This 16th-century sanctuary, declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is, according to local tradition, an endowment of the Nemanjić dynasty. Architecturally, it is recognized for its rare blend of medieval Raška-style construction, while the interior is adorned with precious frescoes from 1605.

Alongside priceless relics, such as the remains of Ognjena Marija, the monastery is visually distinguished by a fairytale garden with more than two thousand roses. The peace offered by the slopes of Ozren Mountain and the murmur of the Spreča River make this complex a perfect blend of faith, history, and breathtaking scenery.
