Kanjon Neretve
Description
The Neretva Canyon is one of the most magnificent natural sights in Herzegovina, lying along the M-17 (E73) main road between Jablanica and Drežnica. The Neretva River, about 230 kilometres long, has over the centuries cut a deep canyon through the slopes of the mountain giants – Prenj, Čvrsnica and Čabulja. The towering karst cliffs that interlace along the river's course leave everyone who passes breathless, while the emerald-green water further emphasises the beauty of the landscape.
Downstream of Jablanica the river turns into the Grabovica reservoir, fed by the Glogošnica, the Diva Grabovica and the well-known Komadinovo vrelo spring. The area is ideal for nature lovers: it offers photography, hiking, rafting and exploration of the surrounding scenery, along with a rich cultural heritage and the gastronomic specialities for which this region is known.
Activities in the Canyon
The Neretva Canyon offers unforgettable experiences — from the thrill of white-water rafting on the Neretva River and hiking on Čvrsnica mountain and the Plasa plateau, to photographing spectacular cliffs and canyon scenery. A drive along the M-17 (E73) highway through the heart of the canyon is a unique experience in itself.
