Battle of the Neretva Museum

936 m to city center

Description

The Museum of the Battle of Neretva is one of the most important historical museums in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located on the banks of the Neretva River in Jablanica. It is dedicated to one of the key battles of World War II – the Battle of Neretva, also known as the Battle for the Wounded.

Through a rich collection of photographs, documents, weapons, and personal belongings, the museum presents the dramatic events of 1943 and the struggle of the Partisan forces. The most iconic symbol of the site is the destroyed railway bridge over the Neretva River, located next to the museum, serving as an authentic reminder of the wartime events.

Today, the museum is a must-visit destination for anyone wishing to better understand the history of the region and experience a powerful story of courage, sacrifice, and the fight for freedom.
