Old Town Gabela
Description
Gabela is a small but historically extremely rich settlement located on the Neretva River, not far from Čapljina. Once an important trading port and customs center, Gabela was for centuries one of the key towns of the lower Neretva, as evidenced by the remains of Stari grad Gabela - today a national monument.
This place is also made especially interesting by the unusual theory of the Mexican researcher Roberto Salinas Price, who claimed that the legendary Troy was actually located in the area of Gabela, which attracted thousands of curious visitors from around the world in the 1980s.
