Description

Suljagića Konak in Donja Špionica near Srebrenik is one of the finest preserved examples of a rural čardaklija, a typical Bosnian upper-floor house with an overhang. Although the exact date of construction has not been established, records from 1887 confirm its historical value, while since 1917 it has been the home of the Suljagić family. This national monument is not just a residential building, but an entire architectural ensemble that also includes accompanying economic structures: a smokehouse, storage house, granary, corn crib, and stable, reflecting the way of life and economy of the former Bosnian nobility and landowners.
