Konak – Town Hall
Description
At the very entrance to the urban core of Gračanica stands the Konak – Town Hall, one of the most representative buildings from the Austro-Hungarian period, which has been captivating attention with its lavish aesthetics since 1887. Originally built as a konak and soon adapted into a town hall, this building is a prime example of the pseudo-Moorish style, recognizable by its fascinating façade with red and yellow horizontal stripes. A special architectural gem is its entrance portal, inspired by monumental buildings in North Africa and Spain, while the interior hides elegant Art Nouveau elements.
As the current seat of the municipality, the Town Hall is not only an administrative center, but a living monument to the visionary blend of European trends and Oriental ornamentation, making it an essential stop for every lover of history and photography.
