Description

Zvorničko Lake, the first reservoir on the Drina River, is an emerald oasis stretching 25 kilometers along the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Created in the mid-20th century by the construction of a powerful dam, the lake today offers a perfect blend of untouched nature and tourist amenities. With an average depth of up to eight meters and a width that in some places reaches three kilometers, the lake has become a favorite destination for all lovers of water and sunshine.

Its shores are lined with numerous holiday homes and hospitality venues that invite you to enjoy the perfect summer getaway. Whether you are an adrenaline lover eager to try rafting and river rafting, or you prefer a calmer pace with fishing, boating, and swimming, Zvorničko Lake offers something for everyone. This is where the roar of the once-powerful Drina has calmed into a vast blue expanse, creating space for recreation and true enjoyment of a breathtaking landscape.

Fish Pass and Spawning

Zvorničko jezero has something few hydroelectric plants can boast about: a cascading fish pass through the dam, the only one of its kind on the entire Drina. Every year since 2003, in spring, the fish pass opens and fish from the lower course of the river can freely migrate to the lake to spawn. That decision has had measurable results — today the lake is known as one of the strongest fishing lakes in the Balkans, with specimens of fish rarely seen elsewhere.

Divers report catfish weighing over 100 kg in the depths, and record catches from fishing competitions such as Somovijada cause disbelief every year.
