Goransko Lake
Description
Nestled in the fragrant pine forest of Mount Ozren, just eight kilometers from the city bustle, Goransko Lake is a true oasis for lovers of nature and active recreation. This artificial reservoir on the Jošava stream has been carefully transformed into a modern complex, where a concrete bottom and sandy beach with diving platforms offer perfect refreshment during hot summer days. Whether you are an avid cyclist, a recreational visitor, or a family looking for peace, the lake offers facilities that suit all generations.
A complete tourist infrastructure, from a new asphalt road to arranged barbecue and camping areas, provides full comfort in the wilderness. For those eager to explore, an educational trail leads from the lake to the well-known Preslica excursion site, while a children's playground and local hospitality venues complete the experience.
A lake of movement and nature
Goransko Lake was not formed by a river or a natural depression — it was created by the will of the community. In the 1970s, as part of the Gorana youth movement that was reforesting the slopes of Ozren, young activists, locals from Lipac and Jošava, and units of the JNA together dammed the Jošava stream in 1971 to create a reservoir, which was then named after the movement itself.
The pine forest surrounding the lake is part of the same reforestation effort — and it is this forest that now provides dense shade, making Goransko one of the most refreshing excursion spots on summer days in the Doboj basin.
