Vidara Lake
Description
Vidara Lake was born out of necessity, but over time it became an inseparable part of Gradačac’s sports and recreational life. Built in 1971 as a response to the devastating floods that ravaged the industrial zone in the 1960s, this artificial lake is today a peaceful oasis located in the settlement of Vida. It is fed by clean mountain streams and springs, and from the very beginning it became a favorite gathering place for anglers thanks to its rich fish stock.
Besides protecting the city, Vidara is the "cradle" of Gradačac water sports – it was here that the kayaking and diving clubs were founded, bringing together young enthusiasts for decades. Although 2010 brought challenges in the form of landslides on the dam, the lake survived as a precious natural resource. For visitors, Vidara represents the perfect blend of engineering ingenuity and nature, offering peaceful shores for walking and sports, while quietly watching over the safety of Gradačac homes and factories.
