Jahorina Mountain
Description
Jahorina is one of the largest and most modern ski destinations in southeastern Europe, located 30 kilometers southeast of Sarajevo and 10 kilometers from Pale. Its highest peak is Ogorjelica at 1,916 meters above sea level. The mountain offers around 47 kilometers of ski trails divided into 24 runs, 5 km of which can be used for night skiing, as well as 10 km of Nordic trails.
The trails are equipped with modern vertical transport facilities. Jahorina hosted part of the competitions at the 1984 Winter Olympics and today attracts visitors from across the region and the world every year. Alongside its winter ski offer, the summer season features mountain bob, paragliding, zip-line, kayaking, pedal boats, quad rides, and marked hiking and cycling trails. There is a lake with adrenaline activities on the Poljice plateau. The 1984 Olympic mascot – the famous Vučko – remains a lasting symbol of this Olympic mountain.
Winter and summer on Jahorina
Until recently, Jahorina was seen exclusively as a a winter destination, a ski mountain with 47 km of trails, night skiing, and a snowboard park.
But in summer, In summer, the lake on the Poljice plateau becomes the center of activity: a zip-line crossing the entire lake, sky-dive, loopster, kayaking, pedal boats, and the Jahorina Express tourist train. Hiking enthusiasts can choose from four marked trails, while cyclists can enjoy downhill routes with an elevation drop of up to 276 meters.
