Description

Located in Bijeljina's oldest building, the Museum of Semberija preserves the soul of this region through three fascinating permanent exhibitions. On the ground floor, you will find archaeological treasures dating back to the Neolithic, and a special gem is the collection of 23 Cyrillic inscriptions in Old Church Slavonic, the most significant of its kind in the entire region. Alongside Roman altars and stone lions, you will feel the breath of ancient times and medieval craftsmanship from Batković and Ostojićevo.

The ethnological section offers an emotional return to the past, presenting the authentic life of a Semberija village and the refined old-town culture of Bijeljina itself. The journey through time is completed by the historical display that follows the city's development from its first mention in 1446, through old photographs and weapons, all the way to the 20th century. With five spacious halls and doors open every day, this museum is not just an institution, but a living chronicle of Semberija waiting for you to explore it in the very heart of the city.
