Description

The archaeological monuments in Konjic are located in Park na Vardi, below the Community Center, and represent a valuable segment of the cultural and historical heritage of this area. Due to their significance, the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina declared them a national monument in March 2006.

Their story dates back to the mid-20th century, when numerous finds were discovered during archaeological research in 1952 and 1953 in the Neretva Valley and its tributaries, from Konjic to Jablanica, as well as in the Rama area. Since part of these sites was flooded by the construction of Jablaničko Lake, the selected monuments were preserved and transferred to Konjic.

After the initial installation in front of the Repovačka Mosque, they were moved to their current location in Park na Vardi in 1978. The national monument today consists of a total of 13 archaeological objects, arranged in three units, which together testify to the rich and layered past of this region.
