Description

Turquoise refreshment hidden among the Herzegovinian giants. While the Herzegovinian sun beats down relentlessly and the asphalt of Mostar calls for shade, more and more travelers and nature lovers are discovering a hidden gem – the Drežanka River. Located in the magnificent canyon between the Čvrsnica and Čabulja mountains, this river in Donja Drežnica has become a real sensation on social media, attracting attention not only from locals but also from tourists arriving from as far away as Canada and the United States.

The biggest attraction of Drežanka is the bathing area known as "Ispod brane". Its popularity lies in the incredible variety of terrain. There are sections of the river, a kind of natural pools, only about 40 centimeters deep, ideal for children to play in. Deeper sections of more than two and a half meters are perfect for swimmers, jumpers, and divers who want to explore the clear bottom.

With a summer water temperature of 17-18°C, Drežanka offers the most valuable thing in Herzegovina – true and deep refreshment.

The Drežanka begins its journey at the foot of the rugged Čvrsnica, and its entire course is dominated by sky-blue water and exceptionally rare clarity.

Donja Drežnica, ~30 min from the Old Bridge in Mostar
Bathing areas: Ispod brane (shallow 40 cm / deep 2.5 m)
Stupina (4 m deep, high diving platforms)
Water temperature: 17–18 °C in summer — a cold mountain river, ideal for hot weather

Swimming on the Drežanka

Drežanka is to summer what Mount Čvrsnica is to winter — a perfect natural getaway in the immediate vicinity of Mostar. The Ispod brane bathing area, just 30 minutes from the Old Bridge, offers parts of the river 40 centimetres deep for children and 2.5 metres deep for swimmers and divers — all in one place.

In summer, the water temperature stays at 17–18 °C, offering a kind of refreshment you can't buy. The Stupina bathing area, renovated in 2025, also features high diving platforms, a river four metres deep, and natural waterfalls with a spring of cold drinking water. Both bathing areas are seeing a growing number of foreign tourists, especially from the US and Canada, who discovered them through social media.
