Balj Forest
Description

In addition to its natural beauty, Balj also preserves valuable areas of high conservation value that tell the story of the coexistence of people and nature. On one hectare there is a landscaped drinking water spring, an ideal place to rest and refresh yourself.
Whether you are looking for the fruits of nature or simply want to escape the city bustle, this forest massif above Kostajnica offers a peace you will remember for a long time. Take a deep breath and let the scent of the forest enchant you.
Chestnut Forest
Few forests in the region can boast what Balj has in abundance — 206 hectares of sweet chestnut, a space that makes this area special in its own right. Along with chestnut, beech and oak form a native forest community that rises above Kostajnica and offers the perfect escape from the city bustle. Every autumn, when the chestnuts ripen, Kostajnica hosts Kestenijada — a festival celebrating this fruit rich in vitamins and minerals, attracting visitors eager for the authentic taste of autumn.
