Rodna kuća Ive Andrića
Description
The Ivo Andrić Memorial Museum is set in Travnik's Zenjak quarter, in a house where, on 9 October 1892, the only Nobel laureate in literature from the former Yugoslavia was born. The house was reconstructed in 1974 and arranged as a memorial museum dedicated to the great writer's life and work. The permanent display includes the Birth Room, a room devoted to the novel "Bosnian Chronicle", a photo archive with images from the Nobel Prize ceremony, and a library of Andrić's works in Bosnian and many translations.
The museum also hosts the "Open Literary Atelier", with workshops, lectures and chamber concerts, and in 2002 a Regional Literary Collection was established. With the 2021 renovation of the ground level, a restaurant and the small "Ex Ponto" gallery were added. A visit here is a journey into the world of the writer who placed his native Travnik forever on the world's literary map.
