Description

Kladanj jealously preserves an architectural gem of priceless value - the Kuršumlija (Hadži Bali-beg) Mosque, the only preserved domed religious building from the early Ottoman period in all of northeastern Bosnia. Built as early as 1545 in the distinctive early Istanbul style, this mosque, with its shallow lead-covered dome (after which it got the name Kuršumlija), bears witness to the skill of the students of the famous architect Hajrudin.

Located on the left bank of the Drinjača, this protected architectural complex offers an authentic journey into the past through its massive stone walls, remains of ancient interior paintings, and the Hadži Đurđihanuma fountain, which has welcomed travelers at the entrance to the courtyard for decades. For every visitor, Kuršumlija is not just a monument, but a living chronicle of the former "Četvrtkovište" and a spiritual center that has defied time for five centuries, making Kladanj a must-see stop for lovers of history and sacred architecture.
