Olovci Stećak Necropolis

Not far from Kladanj, in the village of Olovci, lies one of the most precious stećak necropolises in Bosnia and Herzegovina, proudly bearing the seal of UNESCO World Heritage. These 18 stone giants, arranged in neat rows, guard the secret of the medieval noble family Jurisalić, whose fate in this region was immortalized by an inscription in Bosančica beneath the feet of Radomir Jurisalić.

The special value of this necropolis lies in its artistic craftsmanship – from monumental ridge stones decorated with double spirals and twisted ribbons, to the distinctive motif of a cross with rounded arms that became the hallmark of the Kladanj area.
