Description

The Ćiro trail is one of the most interesting tourist routes in Herzegovina, created along the route of the former narrow-gauge railway known as “Ćiro.” Built during the Austro-Hungarian period in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this railway connected the interior of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Adriatic coast, passing through the picturesque landscapes of Herzegovinian karst.

Today, the former railway line has been turned into a well-maintained trail for walking and cycling, passing through Popovo polje and the municipality of Ravno. Along the route, you can see old tunnels, bridges, and railway stations such as Uskoplje, which still bear witness to the former importance of this railway.

Today, the Ćiro trail offers a unique blend of history and nature - cycling or walking this route takes you through untouched landscapes, far from the crowds, with a constant reminder of the time when the little train “Ćiro” was the main link between Herzegovina and the world. It is ideal for adventurers, recreational visitors, and anyone who wants to experience Herzegovina in a different, authentic way.
