Description

For everyone visiting Babanovac and wanting to experience the true wilderness of Mount Vlašić, Ugrić Waterfall is an unmissable stop hidden in the heart of untouched nature. From a height of about 20 meters, the water plunges forcefully down rocky cascades, creating a breathtaking scene and offering perfect peace far from the tourist crowds. A gentle walk of about an hour leads you to this natural gem, whether you start from the Babanovac plateau or from the Ski Vlašić guesthouse, passing through wide meadows and fragrant forests that make Vlašić so special.

Although the waterfall is accessible year-round and offers a different kind of magic in every season, it is important to remain cautious. For safety reasons, it is essential to strictly follow the marked trails, as some parts of the forests and meadows near the road are still mined. By respecting nature and its rules, a visit to Ugrić becomes an unforgettable experience that connects you with the raw power of Vlašić’s waters and the silence of the mountain massif.

Location: Vlašić mountain, Ugrić River canyon
Waterfall height: ~20 m
1 hour walk to the waterfall
Starting point: Babanovac plateau or Pansion Ski Vlašić

The Mill Canyon

The Ugrić River is short — only 3 to 4 kilometers — but intense. From its source at 940 meters above sea level, the stream quickly plunges into an ever deeper and narrower canyon, reaching almost 400 meters in depth at 840 meters. Along this short course, there once stood about ten mills that ground grain for the local population.

Today only one remains, but even that one is enough to create a breathtaking scene with the murmur of water and moss-covered stone walls. The 20-meter waterfall at the end of the walk is a natural reward for anyone who decides to explore this hidden corner of Vlašić.

How to get there and what to bring?

Starting point: the plateau in front of the Babanovac Ski Lift or the parking area at Pansion Ski Vlašić
Route: along the left ski slope → past the ruined Ugar Ski Lift → meadow with shepherds → tractor road → old ski slope → forest road → village of Donji Čatići → wooden bridge → gravel road → waterfall
Equipment: hiking boots (sturdy boots required); water; food for longer visits
By the waterfall: rest bench, open hunting hut; descent to the waterfall down the scree

MINE: there are mined areas along parts of the route — STAY STRICTLY ON THE GRAVEL ROAD AND MARKED TRAILS; do not leave the forest!
