Wilson's Promenade

Wilson's Promenade is Sarajevo's most beloved green oasis, stretching 3.5 kilometers along the bank of the Miljacka River. Established during the Austro-Hungarian era as Kalajeva Promenada, the promenade changed names throughout history reflecting the turbulent epochs of the 20th century, before being renamed in 1993 after American President Woodrow Wilson.

On both sides of the path grow dense rows of linden trees planted in the early 20th century, which in summer create a canopy of greenery and shade rarely seen in a city center. Motor vehicle traffic is banned on weekdays from 5 PM to midnight, as well as on weekends and public holidays, transforming the promenade into a true urban paradise for runners, cyclists, roller skaters, and walkers. Along the path there are outdoor exercise stations, a children's playground, and several café terraces that are a favorite summer gathering spot for Sarajevo locals. Ideal for a short break between sightseeing.
