Mrkotić Lake
Description
Mrkotić Lake is a well-kept picnic area in the village of Mrkotić, Tešanj Municipality, located along the M-4 main road Doboj–Teslić, on the bank of the Usora River. The artificial lake was formed by sand extraction, is about 2.5 meters deep, and is rich in fish – carp, catfish, barbel, chub, and crucian carp.
Fishing is allowed on Saturdays and Sundays with a day permit, and the lake is managed by SRD Blinker from Kaloševići. The picnic area is equipped with sports fields for football and beach volleyball, walking paths, rows of catalpa trees with benches, shelters with picnic tables, and a children's playground with swings, seesaws, and slides. Entry and stay for all visitors are free, and the site is covered by free Wi-Fi and video surveillance. It attracts a large number of nature lovers, sport anglers, and families every day.
Fishing and nature
Mrkotić Lake is especially popular with sport anglers who come here on Saturdays and Sundays with a day permit. Catches of carp and catfish are a daily occurrence, and the lake has already been stocked with carp twice, while stocking with grass carp is also planned to help control aquatic vegetation. The Usora River right next to the picnic area further enhances the natural setting, which every day attracts lovers of peace, walking, and family time in the fresh air. The entire picnic area project was created through the efforts of members of USR Blinker, local youth, and activists from Kalošević, Mrkotić, and Bobari, with the support of the Tešanj Municipality.
