Paučko Lake
Description
Paučko jezero (Gorsko oko) is a hidden mountain gem located at about 650 meters above sea level, just around ten kilometers from Kladanj. Formed naturally from several mountain streams and further shaped by the construction of a small dam, this lake is known for its exceptional clarity and freshness of water. Surrounded by dense forest and untouched nature, it is an ideal place for rest, walks, and escaping the everyday crowds. Its rich fish population, including carp, trout, and pike, as well as the presence of crayfish as an indicator of purity, make it especially attractive for nature lovers and anglers. Silence, fresh mountain air, and enchanting scenery make Paučko jezero a perfect destination for relaxation and enjoying the natural beauty of this area.
Gorsko oko on Konjuh
Paučko Lake is not just a lake — it is a geomorphological phenomenon. It lies on the border of two completely different geological formations: limestone and ophiolite, which gives this part of Konjuh a specific serpentine vegetation that is rarely found elsewhere.
A beech and fir forest with a mix of spruce, black pine, and Scots pine surrounds the lake, and the dense mountain climate freezes the lake completely in winter and covers it with snow. Only at the end of March or in April does the ice give way and Gorsko oko opens again to the sky. At that moment, it is probably at its most beautiful.
