Sarajevo Cable Car

1.8 km to the city center

Description

The Trebević Cable Car is one of the most recognisable symbols of Sarajevo, once again linking the heart of the city with Mount Trebević since 2018. The first cable car opened on 3 May 1959 and for nearly three decades was a beloved city attraction, offering a bird's-eye view of Sarajevo. Reopened in 2018, it has 33 gondolas in the colours of the Olympic rings, each holding ten passengers, with a ride of just eight to nine minutes.

The route is 2,100 metres long, departing from Bistrik on the left bank of the Miljacka up to Trebević. The view from the gondola – across the red rooftops of Baščaršija, minarets and green slopes – is unforgettable. The upper station on Trebević has a panoramic terrace, and from there trails lead to Brus, the Olympic bob track, the Čolina Kapa observatory and the Vidikovac viewpoint. The cable car is open to children and pets and operates seven days a week.
