River and fish
Glavatičevo carries the secret of its name: either the village was named after the fish glavatica, or the fish was named after the village. One thing is certain — in this part of the Neretva, Bosnia and Herzegovina has no equal in the diversity of its salmonid fish stock. Grayling, brown trout, glavatica, kosor, and the unique softmouth trout — anglers come from across the region precisely because of this richness.
The stretch is 3,600 meters long, well marked, with strict enforcement of the catch-and-release regime. A professional fish-guard service keeps watch from the sidelines, and fishing at lower water levels is possible by walking through the middle of the river and choosing spots where the flies will be presented.
